Care and Maintenance Our rugs are composed of natural fibers, most of them are 100% wool while some of the azilals may have cotton elements. They are much easier to clean than anything with poly-chemical elements. Take outside and shake - this way dust comes out of the top and the bottom. Hang over something and beat with a broom. The carpet You may vacuum routinely, use the suction portion only in a V motion not agitate the natural fibers. To remove spills, blot the area with an undyed cloth by pressing firmly around the spill to absorb as much as possible. If spill needs further treatment, test a small area with a mild detergent (although everyone in Morocco uses Tide) then wash the area with soap and water. If you would like to wash the entire rug there are videos that you can google “how to wash your beni ourain/azilal” it’s a job but looks quite fun. We recommend a rug pad. A great source is Amazon, if your size is not listed, purchase a larger size and cut it down. Professionally clean as necessary Rotate rug once or twice a year to balance sun exposure and traffic patterns.
